Getting Started at Health Counselling
Become a Client or Join Our Network
You can refer yourself to our practice; we don't require a referral from a doctor. If you're not ready to book a session, you can join our mailing list or follow us on Instagram. You can also submit an inquiry, and we'll get back to you within a day.
Choose a Therapist
You can review our profiles to see who's the best fit for you. If you're not sure, you can reach out or book a 15-minute consultation with Kathleen to discuss your needs and to see who would be the best fit for you.
Choose a Service
Being a modern practice, we try to keep your options open and flexible by offering:
traditional, 50-minute sessions via phone or video (online) or in-person,
shorter sessions (25 minutes) for returning clients if this suits you best,
E-Therapy via email and secure message, either as-you-go or through a subscription,
outdoor and in-nature sessions, year-round, in Chatham-Kent and Sarnia-Lambton.
You can read more about what we offer, here.

Complete Your Profile With Us
After you book your first session, we send you an electronic consent form, payment agreement form, and obtain information like your address. You review the forms prior to your session and send them back to us.
Your First Session
There isn't anything you must bring to your first session. This said, some people do appreciate taking notes. For remote sessions, setting yourself up in a comfortable space can really help. You're always in the driver's seat when it comes to therapy. You can stop at any time, you can talk as much or as little as you'd like. We always follow your lead.
If you're attending a video session, it may help if you log in to our video therapy system in advance, to make sure your device is compatible.
We expect payment on the day of your session. We accept cash, cheque and e-transfer. If you have extended health care benefits, you would first pay the practice and then we provide you with a receipt.
