FAQs ABOUT
GROUP THERAPY

Why is group counselling effective?

Group therapy is effective because it provides a unique opportunity for connection, support, and growth. Participants often realize they are not alone in their struggles, which fosters a sense of belonging and reduces feelings of isolation. The group setting also allows members to offer and receive encouragement, understanding, and diverse perspectives, promoting personal insight and development. Additionally, group therapy creates a safe environment for practicing communication and interpersonal skills, helping individuals build stronger, healthier relationships.

How many people are usually in a group? How often do we meet?

Groups typically consist of 6 to 12 participants to ensure everyone has a chance to share and benefit from the group dynamic. Groups will be varying sizes. Upon signing up, you can indicate your preference for a smaller or larger group.

Groups typically convene twice per month, but meeting frequency can vary group to group.

Is group therapy as effective as individual therapy?

Yes, group therapy can be just as effective as individual therapy, depending on the person and their needs. It offers unique benefits like peer support and opportunities for social learning that complement individual treatment.
